About Caballito Cerrero Tequila Reposado
In 1950, Don Alfonso Jiménez Rosales established the famous spirit brand Caballito Cerrero. He founded the brand after a family feud and had the vision to create a unique and authentic style of tequila. Despite facing challenges from the CRT (regulatory board of tequila), Alfonso and his team took it as an opportunity to differentiate themselves from others by using the agave chato plant in their production, a plant that was once a popular ingredient in tequila-making before the blue agave became the norm. With its rich history, Caballito Cerrero has become a well-respected name in the Mexican spirit industry. El Caballito Cerrero Reposado is a feisty little stallion made with maguey Chato, a particular type of agave plant. The agave used for this distillate is cooked in a brick steam oven, fermented for a week, and then distilled in stainless steel and copper. Matured for nine months and bottled at 40% ABV, this remarkable spirit holds potent aromas of light oak and agave nectar, with sugary flavors and slight spice.
