Once the grains have been harvested, they are mashed and fermented at Crop’s distilling facility in Minnesota. Then, the wash — the liquid that remains after the fermentation — is distilled as many times as necessary in order to remove any impurities or unwanted flavors. That is, the vodka is distilled to taste rather than a specific number of times. The distillation process is so efficient that no carbon treatment or charcoal filtering is required.

Rather, these farmers control weeds by creating old-fashioned prairie fires, and rely on native birds and bats to consume insects in their fields.
