About SelvaRey Chocolate Rum
SelvaRey Rum was born in the wilderness of the Panamanian jungle, carved out by none other than present-day Master Distiller Francisco ‘Don Pancho’ Fernandez. Otherwise known as “the golden nose,” Don Pancho spent 35 years running the notorious Havana Club Brand and one day decided it was high time he did his own thing. That’s when two L.A. Boys came in—Seth Gold and Robert Herzig. They had a vision for the SelvaRey brand and were interested in flavored Rum. So was the Golden Nose, who shared their vision and released their first flavored Spirit in 2014. Later on, Bruno Mars hopped along. A true fan of the brand, he helped it make what it is today—a true topical luxury in your glass. SelvaRey Chocolate Rum is one glorious example of a flavored liquor done right. At 70 proof, this five year old Rum boasts locally sourced chocolate and defies conventions regarding traditional Rums. About Rum
Rum history allegedly started in the Carribiens in the 17th century when they started to ferment and distill molasses, a byproduct of sugar production. Most of the Rum is aged in oak or ex-wine casks, giving its color and flavor.
We distinguish between 4 different Rum categories, where white or unaged rum is mainly used in cocktails, while dark, spiced, and añejo (aged) rum are mostly enjoyed neat.
