About St-Rémy VSOP Brandy
Cécile Roudaut, the master blender at St-Rémy, celebrates VSOP as the keystone and pillar of their brandies. That statement already speaks volumes about this iconic specimen, without adding that it was based on the original recipe that truly shot the St-Rémy name around the globe. The first step in producing this brandy consists of carefully selecting the grapes from the bountiful wine regions, scattered all over France. VSOP Brandy includes a combination of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Gamay, Ugni Blanc, Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. The mixture is then distilled in column and pot stills until the fermented wine releases the contained alcohol and transforms into the so-called water of life (eaux-de-vie). The distiller then has to meticulously select the heart of the distillation to really bring out the desired characteristics, transforming the eaux-de-vie into a well-rounded brandy.
The VSOP brandy is matured in French oak barrels and bottled at 80 (40% ABV). This amber-gold liquid is completely bitter-free, presenting you with a balanced palate, packed with fruity and wooden flavors.
